What I am doing now
The credit for this page goes to Derek Sivers and his cool insight that readers are interested in what the person (behind a personal website) is doing now.
Fundraising for CoolCoach/ScaleX Initiatives
I have been building CoolCoach, a social enterprise focused on bringing the benefits of fitness coaching to low-income families to help them battle the onset of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) for the last 8 years. We were able to prove most of our assumptions and create meaningful impact - more physical activity per day for children from low income families and jobs in the fitness industry for sportspersons (adults) from low-income families. Given our impact focus, it took us a while to figure out what our revenue model is going to be. From a fundraising perspective, funders interested in our impact work, don't understand why we need to build out a revenue model, and funders who like our revenue model, end up questioning the need for our impact work. It feels like we are at a crossroads but I have to remind myself that this was one of the challenges we are meant to solve for.
Building out my virtual presence
I love the idea of having an easily searchable repository of things that interest me but at the same time I hate the idea of doing it to build an audience (I can't get myself to feel so important.) I also want to improve my writing. I believe writing as a skill is important for two reasons - it is a great tool to sharpen your understanding of any topic, and at the same time an effective tool to persuade others of your ideas.
Masculinity, fatherhood, raising boys
My wife and I both like to read though our interests can be very different. We liked the idea of reading the same books every now and then as a fun activity to do as a couple. In late 2019, when we had just moved to New Delhi after getting married, an expert in Gender Studies, suggested we read Bad Feminist. That book kicked off my journey into the world of feminism, masculinity, the manosphere, fatherhood, and how to raise kids/boys (now that we have 2 of our own). All my learning comes from reading books, listening to podcasts, and watching youtube videos (which I intend to stop.) The more I learn, the more I get sucked into it.
